On behalf of WVDEP Division of Land Restoration

HUNTINGTON, WV – The Center for Environmental, Geotechnical and Applied Sciences (CEGAS), through its West Virginia Brownfields Assistance Center at Marshall University (WVBAC), has released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a professional firm to conduct Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments on sites with significant development potential across the State of West Virginia to determine if the sites of interest have past and/or current petroleum issues that may hinder future redevelopment plans.

The purpose of this RFQ is to select an experienced, professional environmental consulting firm to provide the highest quality service at a competitive fee. Accordingly, technical qualifications and experience will be weighed heavily and objectively scored by an independent selection committee from within Marshall University and the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP). Interested parties are requested to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) via email to buckland@marshall.edu no later than 5:00 pm EST on June 1, 2015.

The WVDEP Division of Land Restoration has contracted the WVBAC at CEGAS to conduct project administration and related activities for its US EPA funded Community-Wide Brownfield Petroleum Assessment Grant. The grant performance completion date is currently set for September 2017. George Carico, WVBAC Director, says: “While grant funding can be used on properties across the State of West Virginia, a major focus will be along the Route 19 Mountaineer Expressway corridor and associated regions in Raleigh, Fayette and Nicholas counties.” Former gas stations, bulk petroleum facilities and former business locations are potential sites of interest throughout the state.

The Request for Qualifications can be found in its entirety on CEGAS’ website at http://www.marshall.edu/cegas/docs/RFQ_petroleum_FINAL.pdf. Questions regarding the RFQ application may be directed to Teresa Buckland at buckland@marshall.edu . Technical questions should be directed to George Carico at carico@marshall.edu .
